Research partnership

Better Border Biosecurity (B3)

As a specialist land-based university, Lincoln recognises its vital role in delivering research that contributes to the management of plant pests and diseases in New Zealand. Therefore, Lincoln partners with the Bioeconomy Science Institute, the Ministry of Primary Industries, the Department of Conservation, the Forest Owners Association, Horticulture New Zealand, the Environmental Protection Authority, and Federated Farmers to form Better Border Biosecurity (B3). This science collaboration researches how to reduce the entry and establishment of new plant pests and diseases in New Zealand, complementing our science-based plant border biosecurity system. Research aims to ensure the welfare of our environment and native plant systems, support continued sector growth and innovation and maintain market access for plant-based exports across forestry, horticulture, arable and pastoral systems.
