Just around the corner from where you live, you’ll find the Accommodation Office.
The lovely accommodation team can help you with general enquiries, bookings and payments, as well as information about events, sports or activities. They will also be able to assist you if you need support or pastoral care. Remember, there is support available to you 24/7.
Accommodation services
Every room in the Halls and flats has a single or king single bed, desk and storage facilities. Students are responsible for their own laundry and keeping their rooms tidy.
You will make lifelong friends and have the time of your life. There is a year’s worth of activities planned to keep your calendar jammed packed- Halls Ball, movie nights, PASS Sessions, trips away to Hanmer, skiing, paintball, multi-sport competitions and much more. The Students’ Association (LUSA) also organises events and coordinates clubs and sports groups to keep you busy throughout the year.
On-site campus Chaplains are available to help all you with your emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Chaplains at Lincoln are independent from the university. Any interaction or conversation you have with them is strictly confidential.
The Student Health and Support Team are located in the Hudson Building, so you'll have access to doctors, nurses, counselling services, support for illnesses, disabilities or injuries and an international support advisor.
If you become ill or have an accident, support staff are available in the Halls of Residence to help you get to emergency medical care and first aid.
Meals can also be arranged to be taken to a sick person in their room.
You can either bring your own bedding with you, or you can purchase a bedding pack from the Accommodation Office. If you choose to purchase a bedding pack it will include a mattress protector, pillow, sheets, pillowcase, duvet cover and inner, towel and bathmat. If you choose to bring your own bedding, you must bring a mattress protector with you.
Feeling safe and secure in a new place is really important, so we take it very seriously. Our team carry out regular patrols and monitor the campus via CCTV seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Every bedroom is lockable and all the halls have controlled entry and camera systems to control who has access to your building. To add to that, you have Residential Assistants that live on site and work with the night staff to provide peace of mind.
Spick and span, don’t under-estimate how much a clean space adds to your comfort. Shared spaces in the halls are cleaned twice weekly by our cleaning team and fortnightly in the self-catered flats. Your own room is your responsibility though, that’s your space. But we do provide cleaning equipment in the halls and flats for you to use.
If you’re living in catered accommodation, you'll have all your meals supplied. You can enjoy buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s always plenty of choice and they cater for many special dietary requirements. The weekend brunches are legendary! If you live in the flats, you can still pay individually for meals if you need a night off cooking.
It’s important to consider insurance to cover your personal possessions. It’ll give you peace of mind, “What if” becomes “Whatever” and you protect yourself from having a really bad day. Talk to your insurance company to get a price.
The halls and flats have a free wireless network with unlimited WiFi.
Our campus sits in Lincoln township, a thriving village on the Canterbury Plains. Lincoln is small and very friendly, making you feel right at home. It boasts local pubs, great cafes and eateries, shops and even its own farmers’ and craft market. Of course, you have the natural wonders of the Canterbury region right on your doorstep. From snowy mountains and wide open plains to the stunning coastline. And when you feel like a weekend on the slopes, it’s less than two hours’ drive to the nearest ski field.
The Lincoln University Students’ Association (LUSA) provides representation and support for students. It is 100% independent from the university so their advice just has your best interests at heart.
Mail and parcels are delivered to the university every weekday and students can access their mail at the Accommodation Office.
Parking on campus is free and there are a limited number of residential parks at Lincoln. Only registered vehicles can use the Halls’ car park areas. Just register your vehicle at the beginning of the year and you’re sorted.
Residential Assistants (known as an RAs) live with you in each hall, and we aim to have a ratio of one for every thirty-two students. RAs are full-time, experienced Lincoln students trained in first aid, listening skills and cultural sensitivity. They have an extensive knowledge of the halls and university life and are responsible for looking out for your physical, academic and emotional wellbeing, as well as organising a host of sporting and social events. It’s a bit like having an older brother or sister living nearby. Someone you can talk to about anything that’s bugging you. If you need help, speak to your RA first. They're are available 24/7.
Coming up with a lump sum payment can be a challenge, so there are several payment options which can be selected at the time you accept the placement offer.
